Residential Programs
Housing options for individuals with developmental disabilities can be very limited. The Foundation is working to address this need through the development of limited-income housing and individually-tailored residential programming. Presently the Foundation is able to offer a residential option to adults who are looking to make their first forays into independent living in our transitional housing program. Any individual with the financial capacity to pay the minimum $500 a month in rent (inclusive of utilities) may apply for a housing slot in this program.
Living skill support comes in many forms: inclusion in our life skills group program and our social/recreation programming, as well as house support assistance from our staff. This program is envisioned as appropriate for those individuals who would be able to ultimately live independently and are presently in need of transitional support from living with family or in a more intensively-assisted living setting.
We make every effort to have the homes in which our clients live be as typical a home as any other within their neighborhoods and to be seen in their communities as simply another private dwelling on the street, in keeping with our attitude of true community inclusion. The Foundation provides residential supports to individuals with developmental disabilities on a private-pay, sliding scale basis.
The Foundation is also interested in making contact with the owners of any properties currently under or unused who might be interested in partnering with the Foundation to provide housing while covering the expenses associated with upkeep of mortgage and maintenance.
